Pre-election Budget 2015

Budget boxThe Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne MP, presented his pre-election Budget to Parliament on 18 March 2015. This is the sixth and final Budget of the current Coalition Government. In his Budget speech the Chancellor outlined how the Government plans to raise and spend money in the coming year. Some key points of the Budget include:-

  • Income-contingent loans up to £25,000 will be available for PhD and research-based masters students
  • By April 2017 the tax-free personal allowance on earning will rise to £11,000
  • The National Minimum Wage for the United Kingdom to be raised to £6.70 an hour
