Maximising Library Space During Exam Period: Access Restrictions & Pop-up Study Space, 17th April – 21st May 2017

We know the Library gets extremely busy during exam time, and study spaces more difficult to find.  In order to make life a little easier for our students, between Monday 17th April and Sunday 21st May, we’re taking the following measures to make the most of existing space:

Priority Library Access for University of Glasgow Students

Students studying in the Library

  • Students from institutions other than University of Glasgow, who show their student card from their home University to enter the Library, will only be allowed access after 5pm, seven days a week

  • SCONUL Access members who come to enrol as full members in Bands A, B and C and get library cards, can come in at anytime. The access change only affects those who show their student ID cards to get in.
  • Students from Further Education Colleges will not be allowed to access the Library at any time during this period
  • Students of the Glasgow School of Art may visit the Library as usual throughout this time

We’ve teamed up with the SRC to offer additional space for study and quiet pop up study space will be made available in the following rooms, usually reserved for teaching, events, and staff meetings:

  • LearnLab on level 3
  • MacKenna Room on level 7
  • Committee Room on Level 9
These rooms will be available throughout Library opening hours (7:15am-2am)
and the SRC have info on other Pop Up Study space on campus, coming to their website soon: www.glasgowstudent.net
What can you do to help?
Please be mindful of your fellow students, and don’t block others from using desks, PCs or space…
