#WW1Archives

To mark International Archives Day the @followanarchive team organised their annual Twitter event on on 10th June to be a showcase of archive items related to the First World War.

Archive Services participated by tweeting every hour from both our main @GUArchives account and also the @GlasgowUniWW1 to share items from our University collections and Scottish Business collections.

You can see all our joint activity in this storify published to record the tweets.

Our most popular tweet from the @GUArchives account was this one taken from our William Beardmore & Co Ltd collection.

The @GlasgowUniWW1 account’s most popular tweet was the one we ended the day with about the Memorial Chapel and in total our RTs and activity for both accounts gave us a potential reach and connection to 218,841 twitter users so well worth doing to raise the profile our our collections and the First World War commemoration project at the University of Glasgow.

Follow an Archive have published their results of the day in this blog post if you’d like to see more details about who participated and items relating to the First World War from archive collections all over the world.
