Parental and paternity leave: Uptake by fathers. “This report presents the currently available national statistics on the uptake of family-related leave by fathers over time across the EU28 and Norway. It gives a comparative overview of the main features of the various leave arrangements available for fathers, including information on duration, compensation, eligibility and the number of beneficiaries captured in the data.”

Scaling up Roma Inclusion Strategies; Truth, reconciliation and justice for addressing antigypsyism. “This study aims to promote a better understanding of the Roma minority and communities’ situation in the EU. It proposes ways to strengthen the role of the European Parliament in ensuring democratic accountability and the right to truth and effective justice for past and current human rights violations.”

Comparative case study on alternative resolution systems for domain name disputes: Study. Trade mark holders encounter a high risk of intellectual property infringement over the internet. Protecting trade marks is complex due to “the borderless and multijurisdictional characteristics of the internet.

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) established the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) for the resolution of disputes arising from the registration of internet domain names. The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) implemented the UDRP for all generic top-level domains (gTLD) registrations.

Today, all gTLDs apply the UDRP to resolve disputes. However, while many country-code top-level domains (ccTLDs) utilise the UDRP, other ccTLDs have adopted modified or bespoke versions of the UDRP.

This study has been commissioned by the EUIPO’s European Observatory on Infringements of Intellectual Property Rights to compare the likely outcomes of 10 selected DRPs for 11 pre-defined case scenarios (disputes). The objective of the study was to identify key points of similarity and difference in possible outcomes and to compare and contrast the key characteristics of each DRP.

Equally Safe: A consultation on legislation to improve forensic medical services for victims of rape and sexual assault. “This consultation explores how legislation might improve forensic medical services for victims of rape and sexual assault. It addresses recommendations made by the Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMICS) to strengthen the delivery of healthcare and forensic medical services and seeks views from health and justice organisations, medical professionals, the third sector and survivors.” Closes on 8th May 2019.

Disinformation and ‘fake news’. The final report of the inquiry by the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee has been published.

Loot boxes in video games. “In video games, a loot box is an in-game purchase consisting of a virtual container that awards players with items and modifications based on chance. Concerns have been raised that loot boxes may encourage children to gamble and lead to addictive behaviour. The Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee is looking at the links between gaming and gambling as part of its inquiry on immersive and addictive technologies.”
