Artificial intelligence and civil law: liability rules for drones – study.This study analyses existing European and national legislation on the regulation of drones for civil use, discussing how they are defined and classified, whether certification and registration is required, how liability is apportioned between the subjects involved, and if compulsory insurance is provided for. Finally, on the basis of a risk-management approach, the study elaborates recommendations for future policy formulation.

Informed consent in healthcare settings: “The law of informed consent requires permission for the clinician to treat or examine the patient. It protects patients’ rights to decide what happens to their bodies. The Supreme Court decision of Montgomery v Lanarkshire HB [2015] enhanced protection of patient rights to include information about the risks involved in proposed treatment, and information on alternative treatments. This briefing provides context in light of the Scottish Government’s commitment to review the consent process, mental capacity and mental health legislation.”

Defamation in Scots Law: a consultation. “In December 2017 the Scottish Law Commission (“the Commission”) published their Report on Defamation which aimed to reform Scots law on defamation. This consultation seeks views on some recommendations made by the Commission.” Submit consultation responses by 5pm on 05 April 2019.
