On level 2 there will be a brand new active learning zone where library users can configure and use the space to best meet their needs. In addition there will be a flexible service point with improved self-service facilities, a new exhibition area and an upgraded entrance.
Level 1, currently not open to the public, will be transformed into a quiet study area with 150+ extra study spaces.
While this work is taking place, a temporary entrance and exit will be opened up on Hillhead Street, to the right of the existing entrance. Look out for signs directing you to the temporary entrance. You’ll still need your library card to come into the building throughout the project. Work starts in mid-July and we hope that level 2 will reopen during semester 1 of 2015, with level 1 opening in early 2016.
You’ll still be able to access all the same services and support while the work is taking place. The Library Services Team has moved to level 3 for the duration of the project and they’re there to help you with borrowing, accessing resources, finding materials for your subject, or any other general information. Just follow the signs when you enter the building.
The Student and Staff IT Helpdesks are moving into the level 4 annexe.
Meanwhile, the lift replacement project is progressing well and is on schedule.
