Fashion and consumption in the First World War

Interested in fashion, business history, shopping or the home front during WW1?  Then, you may be interested in new online exhibition featuring department store catalogues from 1916 & 1917.

The Fashion and consumption in the First World War project (Institute of Historical Research & Senate House Library) has made available product catalogues from 5 different department stores.

Included in the exhibition is the Christmas 1916 catalogue for the Glasgow store, McDonald’s Ltd, which is held by Archive Services as part of the House of Fraser Archive.
