What Is Digimap?

Digimap is a collection of services for viewing and downloading digital maps and map data for England, Wales and Scotland. The latest collection, Environment Digimap, offers land cover map data from the Centre of Ecology & Hydrology (CEH). It offers two facilities: mapping though Environment Roam, and the ability to download data through Environment Download. Data available provides a snapshot of land cover for each of the years 1990, 2000 and 2007. These Maps can be used to plan, manage or monitor agriculture, ecology, conservation, forestry, environmental assessment, water supplies, urban spread, transport, telecommunications, recreation and mineral extraction. Ordnance Survey Collection

Based on Ordnance Survey map products that allow you to view, create and print maps of any location in Great Britain. Help is available here.

Historic Digimap

Historic Digimap includes historic maps from the 1840’s to the 1990’s, including town plans, county series and national grid maps. Help is available here.

Geology Digimap

Geology Digimap offers a range of onshore and offshore British Geological Survey mapping data products. Help is available here.

Marine Digimap 

Marine Digimap offers scanned and georeferenced marine maps plus vector data from SeaZone Solutions, containing a huge range of themes covering all aspects of marine spatial information marine data. Help is available here.

For all resources data can be downloaded for the use in CAD and GIS software packages.

You can access all these Digimap Collections from the database link on the Library Home Page. These resources are available to all Staff and Students on and off campus using your GUID, however please note that if you are using Digimap for the first time, you will be automatically directed to a registration form.

Staff in the Maps, Official Publications and Statistics Unit can offer support in using this specialist database, which complements our comprehensive paper collection.
