This weekend the SECC in Glasgow will host Who Do You Think You Are Live, from the 29th-30th August. The event will showcase Scotland’s sources of family history and will allow budding, and experienced, genealogists to discover the different archives from which they could uncover their family’s past. Look out for the Scottish Council on Archive’s stall there!
We, therefore, thought this would be a good opportunity to share our collections and their genealogical potential. We have created two flickr sets to showcase some of the University’s records that can help in family history research:
- The first set: ‘Family History Research and the Scottish Business Archive’, takes you through some great family history sources within the records of Scottish businesses held at the University.
- The second flickr set: ‘Family History Research and University Records’, reveals some sources that can be used to learn about University of Glasgow alumni and students of the past.
If you would like to conduct any family history research, you are welcome to visit our public searchroom. Please contact the Duty Archivist at: firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange an appointment. You can learn more about our service here.
We will be blogging and tweeting over the weekend to share stories about individuals from the archive collections so stay tuned and follow us on twitter!
