Political intrigue, manoeuvres at midnight, subterfuge? These and much more are being unearthed from the shadows of the University.
‘Scandal & Gossip from the University Archives’ is the subject of the next talk organised by The Friends of Glasgow University Library and takes place on Tuesday 18th February at 7pm in the McKenna Room, Level 7. The speaker is Dr Jennifer Bann, a research associate in English Literature, who will be shining her forensic torch into the treasures of the archives and the affairs of the University across the centuries.
Dr Bann’s research interests include Legal Prose in 18th-century Scottish universities, 18th-century medicine, the history of paediatrics and childcare, and the application of digital techniques to research in the medical humanities.
The talk is one in the annual series of talks and events arranged by the Friends and is open to members and visitors. Annual Membership of the Friends starts at £15 and life membership is available. From donations and bequests the Friends help the work and promotion of the University Library and Archives.
