Changes to library opening hours, 30th & 31st October

Due to industrial action, the library will close at 11pm tonight, Wednesday 30th October.

We hope to be open for a limited number of hours for self-service tomorrow (Thursday 31 October), from 9am – 5 pm, and we will post a message at 8am tomorrow to confirm the position.

Please note that Special Collections will be closed all day on the 31st.

We will post an update on our Twitter feed, Facebook page and on our blog tomorrow morning after 8am confirming whether or not we are open. Please do not travel to the library until we have confirmed whether the building will be open or not.

The building will reopen as normal at 7.15am on Friday 1st November.

  1. Thanks for letting us know about this 6 hours before you actually shut the library. Travelled there tonight as I have an essay due tomorrow (no extension given!) to find you’re shut. Had I had an email about this or been notified sooner, I’d have made alternative arrangements. Thanks a bunch!

    • Hi Nicholas,
We’re sorry you were inconvenienced – we posted the message as soon as we knew we’d have to close early. The building may be open today but we won’t be able to confirm this until around 8am so please check back later.
