We thought we’d highlight a fantastic resource within our Scottish Parliament collection. The Scottish Parliament Passage of Bills (SPPB) Series contains all the official documents preceding an Act of the Scottish Parliament in one handy volume, saving you considerable research time!
An Act of Scottish Parliament is the law. While an Act is going through the process of being finalised, it’s known as a Bill. The SPPB series includes the introduction of the Bill, accompanying Explanatory Notes, and all the Stages of the Bill. The stages include the verbatim debates, and meetings held, which can make for very interesting primary research.
Speak to the Maps, Official Publications and Statistics staff on level 7 of the library for more information about using this series.
