A day in the life of an archivist

Having no experience of blogging I was slightly unsettled when I was told that Archive Services (GUAS) would be contributing to the new GU library blog and I was to be editor!!

However, I think a blog is a great way of letting students, academics, researchers and everyone else out there find out more about the work of archivists and how we can assist different kinds of research. It will also help us shake off the stereotype of a profession which is firmly rooted and focussed in the past by showing how we are using new web technology to communicate with our users and publicise our work! I am hoping that the blog will help us to promote the varied and interesting collections we hold, the projects we are involved in, the new collections we have acquired, and the ways in which our service is used by many different kinds of researchers.

All archive staff will contribute to the blog over the next few months giving varied approaches to the different kinds of things we do. Watch this space!
