Archive Services have posted in the past about the James Reid collection: launching our Jimmy Reid flickr set and sharing news about the Scottish National Portrait Gallery’s Jimmy Who? project, and we have more news to share!
Last week a new publication landed on my desk: The People Speak, Voices that Changed Britain, by Colin Firth and Anthony Arnove. It includes letters, speeches and songs of people across Britain who have spoken out, including Jimmy Reid. As I blog, the book is in the process of joining the library’s collections.
The arrival of the book was very timely, as last week also saw the deposit of the remainder of the James Reid archive with Archive Services. So, we are now starting work on adding more of his correspondence, press cuttings, photos and publications to his collection. Once this work is complete, it will be accessible to researchers – we’ll keep you updated on when this is.
