Last week, some of the staff from the archives visited the Lighthouse to view an exhibition that features some original material from the Stoddard - Templeton Archive.
The exhibition, ‘Artisan’s Heirlooms’, was created by Briggs & Cole, a product design/ art partnership formed in 2011 which specialises in limited edition furniture. Christy Cole, one of the company partners, has visited the archive searchroom on a number of occasions, to study the archives of James Templeton & Co, whose factory still stands on Glasgow Green.
Based in that same building, Briggs & Cole have been inspired by the company’s designs, production methods and staff. One of their first products was the Templetonian table – inspired by the Templetonian staff magazines.
Amongst the exhibits, you can see the Templetonian table next to some of Templeton’s original carpet design drawings – inspiration and product side by side.
The exhibition will run until Monday, 6th August at the Lighthouse, Glasgow. Do take a look!
