Scottish Language Dictionaries Ltd (SLD) is 10 years old this year. Visit the poster exhibition on level 2 of the Library and see how many Scots words you recognise and learn some new ones.
SLD is the main research organisation for the Scots Language. They produce the major dictionaries of the Scots Language and undertake a wide range of educational outreach work. SLD was formed in 2002 following completion of editorial work for A Dictionary of the Older Scottish Tongue (DOST), as a successor to both DOST and to the Scottish National Dictionary Association, founded in 1919 and 1929 respectively.
