Today sees the launch of our A & G Berry & Co catalogue. The collection is a small one, consisting of some engineering drawings and a rather beautiful design and specification book:
Jamaican born Alfred G Berry set up an engineering company in Glasgow around 1878. The company was primarily concerned with the sugar industry, designing sugar manufacturing machinery such as hydraulic cane mills, boilers, and multiple effect evaporators. The design and specification book gives some good examples both of the machinery as a whole and its constituent parts, with accompanying text describing both the construction of the machinery and instructions for its use. The catalogue for the collection can be found here.
