Over the past eight months, we’ve highlighted a number of contract carpets – those made to order, including those for luxury liners, for Glasgow Cathedral, and for the coronation of George VI.
In addition to these prestigious commissions, Stoddard, Templeton and the other companies included in the collection were also commissioned by public bodies, businesses and organisations to create bespoke carpets for their premises. So, among the designs we’ve come across some sporting panels, clearly destined for a local football, curling or greyhound club.
