Library QuickSearch has been enhanced with a cleaner, fresher display style and a number of new features. There’s an optional Advanced Search for those of you who prefer to set pre-limits for specific formats or date ranges; and you can even set multiple limits simultaneously. After you start searching, you can easily return to your search strategies or record views using the Recently Searched or Recently Viewed options which will appear in the footer (i.e. the big area at the bottom of every screen).
Introducing article searching
One of the biggest changes is the introduction of article searching! You’ll now see an articles ‘preview panel’ in the middle of your results list. This offers a small selection of articles related to your search terms but, if you really are looking for articles, it’s a good idea to choose the Articles option to move into a more comprehensive listing. The Articles option is available from the top-left hand corner of every screen, and also from the Format facet in the left-hand column. Today, this will only give you access to articles from a few databases. During the coming weeks, this will be increased to a much wider selection. Watch this space!
Please note that QuickSearch Articles will be replacing the Find Articles and more service.
