A new virtual exhibition about provenance, or the ownership history of books, has been added to the Special Collections Department website today. As we have highlighted in previous blog entries, many of the books now in the department have fascinating ownership histories, and this exhibition looks in detail at several volumes with an interesting past.
Four of these volumes, previously belonging to the novelist Charles Dickens, the courtier Madame de Pompadour, the writer Jonathan Swift and the royal tutor Roger Ascham currently feature in our display in the foyer of the Special Collections Department until 14th April, so if you haven’t seen this yet, hurry now to avoid disappointment!
