Please take your belongings with you when you leave the library!

If you’ve been in the library this week, you’ll know that the place is bustling  - and with revision and exam times around the corner it’ll get even busier.

We’ve already had a number of people commenting on the difficulty of finding a place to study because others are leaving their belongings at desks and computers for long periods of time.

We know that you have to leave your stuff to go and find books, grab something to eat or drink, or just take a break - and that’s no problem!   Could we, however, ask that you don’t ‘book’ a study space by leaving your belongings unattended for long periods of time, or overnight.  This isn’t fair on fellow library users, and also leaves you at risk of having items stolen, or mistaken for lost property and removed.

To those of you struggling to find study space, we apologise for the inconvenience.   As a result of your feedback on this matter, we’ve designed and displayed a number of posters and added a warning to the ‘message of the day’ which displays on CSCE machines when students log in.    We’re now in discussion with the SRC about other ways of tackling the problem.
