The Friends of Glasgow University Library have unveiled an interesting programme of talks and events for 2011, listed in our events calendar on the Library website and in the Friends new illustrated Newsletter.
You can find out all about the work the Friends do and decide whether you’d like to befriend the Library yourself on the Friends of Glasgow University Library website .
With the help of members subscriptions, a modest £15, and growing bequests the Friends are keen to support the Library and Archives in many ways including grants for acquisitions, conservation and accessibility. Some members subscribe higher amounts, and all donations can be enhanced by using Gift Aid with an extra 28% coming from HM Customs and Revenue.
The new Chairman is Graeme Smith, the Hon Secretary is Dr Peter Davies, and the Clerk is Alva Caldwell Alva can be contacted in her office in the Library, room 1007, or by email on friends@lib.gla.ac.uk
The talks are open to all, and staff, colleagues, students and visitors are very welcome. Refreshments are served.
The next meeting is on Thursday 24 February in the Henry Heaney Room, Floor 12 at 6pm when Geoffrey Roger of the School of Modern Languages and Cultures talks about a Hunter manuscript “Les Cent Nouvelles Nouvelles”. Geoffrey recently gave a discourse on this at an international convention in New York.

Dear Sirs,
I have completed a manuscript on medieval archery which is to be published with an initial print run of 1.000 copies. I would like to include the image of John Gower drawing an arrow with the green backed bow from his Vox Clamatis Could you please quote me a price, in colour ? I will be paying for this myself.
Erik Roth
Sincerely,
Erik Roth
