To commemorate the 250th anniversary – in 2010 – of the appointment of Alexander Wilson as first Regius Chair of Astronomy in the University of Glasgow, a small display has been mounted on Level 3 of the Library. It describes the early teaching of the subject in the university, and the various university Observatories, as well as featuring significant items on Astronomy from the Library’s Maps and Special Collections. The Display will run until spring 2011. It is also available virtually at: http://www.gla.ac.uk/services/library/aboutthelibrary/departmentsandcollections/virtualdisplays/astronomycollection/
