Hopefully more than eagle-eyed cycling fans caught the University Library’s name in the credits for the new series on BBC4 ‘Britain by Bike’ presented by Clare Balding. The Map Collection provided a number of earlier editions of Ordnance Survey maps to illustrate a sequence of six cycling trips following the guide books of Harold Briercliffe from the late 1940s. This is an extract of one of the maps used (originals were digitised by the Maps, Official Publications and Statistics Unit on Level 7).
