During the next few weeks you will see people abseiling off various parts of the Library building as they carry out a programme of essential repair work to the external cladding. The end date for the work may be affected if we have bad weather but it should be in August.
The work is being done on the older part of the building, on a tower-by-tower basis with the first phase being done at the rear of the Library. The work involves drilling holes, among other things, which will be noisy, but it will also be intermittent and other parts of the work will be quieter. At this time of year, if one part of the Library is noisy, there will always be an alternative quiet space for you to use instead.
We have organised for this work to be done at our quietest time of year and do apologise for any disturbance it causes.
