Last month I travelled to Japan with Monica Callaghan, Head of Education, at the Hunterian Museum & Art Gallery to visit some of the leading national and university museums and archives in Tokyo to explore areas of collaboration and to learn about the management and use of cultural assets in the country. I visited the National Archives of Japan, Kyoto University Archives and the Shibusawa Ei’ichi Memorial Foundation and gave two presentations, one to University Archives and one to Business Archivists.
The visit was very successful but I have not had a moment to reflect fully on the trip since our return. We shall be doing this very soon as we write up our reports to The Great Britain Sasakawa Foundation and the Daiwa Foundation who funded our visit.
These images show some of the sites we visited and the events in which we took part.
