  • Care Matters: Ministerial Stocktake Report 2009 – Dept.  Children, Schools & Families – report sets out what the Department have achieved for children in care through the Care Matters programme of reform, and the plans for 2010
  • The Committee’s Opinion on proposals for European financial supervision – Treasury Committee [HC 1088] – urgent inquiry into the European Commission’s proposals for financial regulation due to be discussed at the ECOFIN meeting on 2 December.
  • Keeping the right people on the DNA database: Summary of responses – Home Office – summary of 503 formal responses to the consultation from a wide variety of interested stakeholders and individual respondents. consultation intended to promote public debate on how long we should retain fingerprints and DNA setting out the benefits of DNA and fingerprints in detecting offenders and helping to bring them to justice
  • National Council for Educational Excellence: Progress Report – Dept.  Children, Schools & Families – document outlines the progress made by the National Council for Educational Excellence. It identifies what needed to be done to achieve real impact and scale in four main strands: business, Higher Education, partnerships and parental engagement.
  • Simplifying Immigration Law: The Draft Immigration Bill - Cm 7730 – outlines the Government’s intentions to simplify immigration law
  • Skills for Growth – The national skills strategy – Dept. Business Innovation & Skills 
  • The UK Low Carbon Transition Plan – Dept. Energy & Climate Change – sets out how the UK will meet the 34 percent cut in emissions on 1990 levels by 2020, set out in the budget.
  • Unemployment by constituency, October 2009 [HC Research Paper 09/82] paper shows the number of people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance recorded as resident in each constituency in the United Kingdom in October 2009, together with comparisons with the levels in October 2008 and October 1997   
  • Voice of Older People – Annual Report 2009 – Government Equalities Office – The Voice of Older People, Dame Joan Bakewell, has published her annual report today. The report highlights the collective issues that older people in Britain have communicated to Joan over the past year. It also shows what Joan has done to raise the profile of their concerns and includes Government initiatives that support older people.

  • EU-Russia Summit – 18th November, Stockholm
  • Green Paper on obtaining evidence in criminal matters from one member state to another and securing its admissability (COM (2009) 624 final) – seeks views from Member States on a number of issues relevant to improving cooperation on obtaining evidence in criminal matters
  • State aid: Commission approves restructuring plan of Lloyds Banking Group – Press release 18th November – Lloyds Banking Group received a £17 billion injection, giving the UK state 43.5% ownership in the Group
