July 9th saw the launch of the National Strategy for Business Archives (England & Wales). This strategy looks to encorage businesses to manage and use their archival heritage. The strategy was developed by a number of UK archive organisations including the National Archives, Business Archives Council and Society of Archivists.
The strategy is available from the Business Archives Council website. It is complemented by the Managing Business Archives website and the National Archives’ publication Corporate Memory.
Archive Services is home to the Scottish Business Archive, the largest dedicated collection of business records in the United Kingdom. We are currently working with the Business Archives Council of Scotland (BACS) and the Scottish archive community to develop the National Strategy for Business Archives (Scotland). This will build upon almost 50 years of BACS work surveying, promoting and rescuing business archives.
