View the opening ceremony of the photographic exhibition, ‘Human bridge: 150 Years of Anglo-Japanese friendship and commerce’, featuring the University principal, Sir Muir Russell and His Excellency Shin Ebihara, Japanese ambassador to the UK via the linked YouTube video. The exhibition reviews the involvement between Japan and Britain since 1858 through 50 photographs depicting Britain’s early contribution to Japan’s modernisation, and shows how the two countries developed a mutually enriching relationship through commerce and human ties. The exhibition is on until 31st August 2009; Mon – Fri, 9am – 5pm, in the University Chapel, admission free. The video was produced by Glasgow University Student Television and also features Stephen McCann, manager of the Photographic Unit, as a human bridge, Yushin Toda, Research and Enterprise, as the load and Lesley Richmond, Director of Archives Services and Monica Callaghan, Head of Education Services, Hunterian Museum as observors.Categories: Archive Services (GUAS)
